There is nothing that keeps administrators up all night like
stories on the news about school safety. Caring for 1,000 children
on a daily basis is a huge responsibility –one that the Clyde-Savannah
School District takes very seriously. Sometimes we have to implement
policies that make parents feel unwelcome. This is certainly not
our intention. We are hoping that once you understand why we have
certain rules, you will also understand how the rules will help
to ensure student safety.
In light of recent events related to school safety, the district
feels the time has come to enhance the security precautions already
in place. We are taking advantage of this opportunity to tighten
up our overall building security. While these additional procedures
may seem like an inconvenience from time to time, please keep
in mind that the school's priority is the safety of its students,
faculty and staff. Please be aware of the recent changes in our
security procedures at all buildings in the Clyde-Savannah Central
School District.
Effective immediately, all individuals entering the school during
the school day must sign in at the Main Office or Reception desk
and must present picture ID upon request at the time of the sign
in. Visitors will be escorted to and from their destination and
will receive an ID badge which must be returned upon exiting the
building. This procedure is being put in place for the protection
of our student body, faculty and staff.
Not only do we have several policies in place for student safety,
but we also practice what we would do in all kinds of emergency
situations. This includes fire drills, “lock-down” drills, an
interior sheltering drill (moving all students to a secure location
within the building) or an evacuation drill of some sort. Drills
such as these allow us to work through our emergency plans and
work on the bugs long before a real emergency occurs.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this change.
