Community members interested in learning more about serving on their local Board of Education are invited to attend a Virtual Seminar for Prospective School Board Members on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. via Zoom.
This free public service seminar is designed for individuals considering running in the upcoming school board elections, which will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The session will feature a panel presentation followed by a question-and-answer period.
Topics will include:
Board/Superintendent relationships
Communicating effectively with the public
Issues commonly addressed by school boards
Legislative and advocacy matters
Roles and responsibilities of board members
Skills needed to serve effectively
The panel will include veteran school board members, a new board member, a superintendent, legislative committee members, and a legal representative.
