Two students presenting

What if you could preserve and recall any assignment you ever did in your grade school years? At Clyde-Savannah, this dream is becoming a reality for students at the Jr.-Sr. High School.

The district is partnering with SpacesEDU to provide a platform where students can preserve projects and assignments in an easily accessible digital space. These digital portfolios can be preserved for years.

“Many students enter college or the workforce with only a handful of test scores and extracurricular achievements to their name,” says Mrs. Holly Drahms, Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Clyde-Savannah CSD. “With digital portfolios, students can provide a powerful snapshot of their skillset and growth to prospective colleges or employers.”

Students in the Jr.-Sr. High School are already beginning to use these digital portfolios. For example, students in Mrs. Danielle Crandon’s seventh grade math classes recently gave presentations and created games based off of rational number concepts. Mrs. Crandon gave students the option to be recorded during their presentations, so they could be included in their digital portfolios.

“Tests aren’t the only way to measure a student’s success anymore,” says Drahms. “Portrait of a Graduate demonstrates that there are many ways a student can demonstrate preparedness for life after school. By adapting digital portfolios, our district is becoming a leader on this front.”
